Laser Hair Removal Treatments – Transgender

Hair Removal Treatments for the Transgender Community in a Friendly,
Professional Environment

Caddell's Laser & Electrolysis Clinic, Inc has been serving the Trans community since 1982 and we are known as a place where the community can feel comfortable, being who they really are. We focused on electrolysis for 18-years and then added laser hair removal for our transgender clients in the year 2000.

Serving the Transgender Community in Seattle & Washington State

Hair removal is usually the first treatment sought when someone is considering transitioning, with most patients starting with Laser Beard Removal. At Caddell’s, we offer you two different treatments designed to remove unwanted hair, Electrolysis and Laser Hair Removal. When someone is transitioning, a combination of Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis can be used for better results, depending on the hair color and the area to be treated. A majority of our clients have used Laser Hair Removal successfully and been hair free for years.

Which Hair Removal Treatment is Right For You?

There are two types of Permanent Hair Removal - Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis. Both treatments are performed at Caddell's, both have advantages and limitations.

Electrolysis

  • Used primarily for gray, blonde or red hair
  • Slow and tedious, but works well on any hair

Laser Hair Removal

  • Used for brown and black hair
  • The laser removes at least 15 hairs per second
  • Laser is much faster than electrolysis and more comfortable
  • Laser beard removal takes approximately 20 minutes, full back, chest, or arms takes up to one hour

Many treatments are needed to achieve total hair removal.  Realistically, it takes about 2 years with laser and more with electrolysis, depending on how many hair follicles need to be destroyed. It is common for insurance to pay for hair removal, both laser and electrolysis. Call your insurance company to find out how much is covered.

We are very comfortable working on private areas in order to get transgender clients ready for GRS. (Gender Reassignment Surgery).  Since Transgender Hair Removal has to be so precise, we follow diagrams given by surgeons in order to completely remove hair designated by the surgeons.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING

Debbie and her staff are an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming group of individuals. As a transgender woman, facial hair removal has been by far the most difficult step in my transition. I came to Caddell's after a bad electrologist experience. From the start of my consultation, I could tell I found the right place. Debbie gave me a detailed, honest evaluation of my hair status and potential removal timeline. The thing that really sets Debbie apart is her communication - I received an email from her in between treatments, and she let me know that she was thinking about different ways to help me achieve removal as fast as possible. It's evident that she truly cares about her clients and their goals, regardless of their personal circumstances. To all my transgender sisters: this is the place to go if you're looking for a comfortable environment that will provide true results. I still have a little ways to go with removal, but with Caddell's I know an end is in sight.

I am writing to give a glowing recommendation to Caddell's Laser and Electrolysis Clinic.  I am an adult transwoman and a very large part of my transition was the removal of my body and facial hair.  Due to my heritage I was graced with a lot of hair to eliminate and have been to several hair removal clinics over the years.
Out of all the hair removal clinics that I have been to, there has been none that have treated me with anything close to the respect, kindness and affection that I received at Caddell's.  They are very sympathetic to people going through what I went through and that acceptance goes a very long way to making me feel emotionally comfortable going here for something that is quite personal.
In terms of competency I have to say that Debbie, Missy and Karen have been spectacular be it with laser or electrolysis.  I'm sure the other technicians are excellent too but I haven't worked with them.  I have also grown quite fond of Renee’ who handles scheduling and a mix of other things.  She does a fantastic job building a rapport with customers and her open attitude goes a long way to making me feel comfortable here.  Basically everybody that I have worked with there has been spectacular and caring.
In terms of how successful my treatments have been, it used to feel like I was swimming with clothes on due to how much body hair I had.  My beard stubble was so dense that my face looked blue.  Now I pass every day as a woman.  My face, arms, legs and body are clear.  Almost all of that was with laser.  My face needed some electrolysis due to some super blonde (grey) hairs that would not respond to the laser.  For those that doubt the efficacy of the laser, my body treatments were over 5 years ago and there has been no hair regrowth at all.  In addition to clinical competency, Debbie does a lot to help popularize the effectiveness of laser hair removal treatments as permanent hair removal and is very involved in the industry.  This isn't a place where they bought some machines some years ago and that's the end of it.  Caddell's continues to refine and improve procedures including acquiring new equipment and anything else they can do to improve their capabilities.

Being transgender, it was really hard for me to find a place to take care of my hair removal needs because I didn’t want to go to a place that made me feel uncomfortable. I was so happy when I found Debbie because I knew instantly that this was the place! She has such an amazing vibe, and made me feel right at home during my consultation and was actually able to do my first session the same day. Hair removal is a process and over the course we have built a bond and I can honestly say that every visit has been a pleasant experience.

I'm happier than I've been in years partly because of you and your hair removal expertise. My transition is finally going smoothly and I truly feel I will be able to reach my goals sometime soon. Other trans women should know that the hair removal is possible and things aren't as hopeless as they might seem.
