Chemical Peels - Reveal Newer, Brighter Skin

Minimize and remove skin damage from the sun, with a Chemical Peel from Caddell's Laser Clinic.

Chemical peels, or Skin peeling, involves an application of a chemical solution to sun-damaged, unevenly pigmented, or finely wrinkled facial areas. The chemical peel or skin peeling procedure is meant to diminish imperfections by peeling away the skin's top layers, resulting in improved texture of the skin. It also smooths the skin. Facial skin is the most common area to be treated although the neck, décolleté and hands can also have chemical peels.

The chemical peels or skin peeling vary according to their specific ingredients and their strength. Depth of skin peeling action may also depend on factors such as how long solutions remain on the skin and whether they are lightly applied, or more heavily or vigorously applied.

Got Questions? We've Got the Answer!

Do you want to improve the texture of your skin?

In the chemical peels procedure, a special chemical solution is applied on the treatment are that will improve the texture of your skin and make it smooth. Damaged outer layers of skin are peeled off to reveal the fresh skin underneath that gives the face a dynamic glow.

Your Caddell's Esthetician will select the best chemical or chemical mix for your skin peels process. A solution is applied to the areas to be treated (or the entire face, avoiding the eyes, brows and lips). Generally, the most superficial skin peels are those using alpha hydroxy acids, such as Glycolic. The Jessner Peel is stronger than the Glycolic, it is excellent for oily skin and patients with acne. A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel is stronger, and has a greater depth of peel compared to the Glycolic.

Sun screens are strongly recommended with all Chemical Skin Peel treatments. Skin pores may appear larger, and the skin may not tan evenly following a chemical peel.

What types of Chemical Skin Peels are used at Caddell's?

Glycolic Chemical Peel:

The Glycolic Skin Peel is a popular skin treatment because of the many benefits it offers. This peel stimulates collagen, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines along with hyperpigmentation in  your skin by increasing cell regeneration. It is a short, safe procedure, you will feel only a mild tingling or stinging sensation when the solution is applied. And the resulting radiant, healthier looking skin, is sometimes achieved after a single treatment. You can immediately resume normal activities, no covering or after peel ointment is necessary, this procedure is also know as the "lunchtime peel."

Jessner Chemical Peel:

The Jessner Peel is considered a medium peel that is used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation, treat aged, sun-damaged skin, even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of scars, such as acne scars. Like the Glycolic Peel, the Jessner Peel also smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. It is a short, safe procedure, however you should follow the post-treatment instructions given to you by your Caddell's Esthetician, and remember to pick up some Sun Screen on your way out.

TCA Chemical Peel:

If more dramatic results are desired, the TCA peel is an excellent choice, and is especially effective in treating darker skinned patients. They are cosmetic treatments that use trichloroacetic acid to improve appearance, and have been found to be effective for the treatment of acne and melasma. The TCA peel can be used to achieve some effects of a deep peel, depending on the concentration and manner of application. Because the TCA is a deeper peel, it may require pre-treatment with the Glycolic peel or Retin-A creams, and a repeat treatment may be required. It may also result in 2-3 days of restricted activity.
