Do Your Eyes Make a Good First Impression?

  • December 14, 2020

Updated 12/14/2020

I wanted to write today about the difference between a wonderful product we sell at Caddell’s, Revitalash®, and Eyelash Extensions.

As humans, we’re hard-wired to pick up subtle clues about a person from their eyes, so making yours stand out can be one of the best ways to make a lasting impression. But how strong will that impression be if your eyelashes are lacking? Short or absent eyelashes can give the impression of an unhealthy or an older person. If your lashes have gradually become shorter, lighter, or have lost thickness, you may be wondering if there is a way to make them long and luscious again.

Revitalash Cosmetics

Revitalash® is a prescription medication used to stimulate eyelash growth, and more people are ranting and raving about its amazing results. Now, you may be thinking something along the lines of, "But don’t lash extensions do the same thing? Aren’t they more affordable?” Well, let’s take a moment to check it out and see.

The Basics ~

When comparing these two methods, you obviously want to consider time, money, and how effective and lasting the desired results are. Revitalash® helps you regrow your natural eyelashes and make them thicker and longer, while lash extensions can imitate your natural lashes, or offer a more bold and daring effect with a variety of colors and style.

No matter how much we want to deny it, sometimes beauty has a bit of a price tag. Lash extensions vary in cost, and like most beauty enhancements, there is a broad range of expenses you can pay to have them done. The more inexpensive method is using false eyelashes which can be purchased at any drugstore for $3 and up. These are glued as one strip just above your lashes, will last throughout the day, and may be used (for most brands) up to 10 times. While this is highly affordable, it can look fake if not done right. Some women opt for the more practical route; professionally done eyelash extensions. These are individual hairs that are attached to your existing eyelashes with an adhesive and are indistinguishable from natural lashes. However, they can cost between $250 - $600, and while they can begin to fall out as soon as two days after application, they normally last from 2-4 weeks. If you want to maintain your eyelash appeal with this method, touch ups are a must, and these can add up fast since they can cost anywhere from $50 - $100 and can require visits as frequently as every two weeks.

Revitalash®, on the other hand, varies in cost depending upon what package you purchase and the amount of liquid in the bottle itself can easily last for up to two months.

How much time exactly is this going to add to your daily routine? Obviously being able to do an at-home treatment in your own bathroom can save an exponential amount of time when compared to having to travel back and forth to a salon, but what about the actual application process? With extensions, it can take from 90 to 150 minutes for the first application, and then touch ups can last anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes. That is a huge chunk of your day!

Revitalash® takes only a matter of minutes. First, you remove any make-up and clean your face, and take out your contact lenses if you have them. Then you apply the solution to your eyelash and/or brow area and volia, you’re done! It’s that simple.

Revitalash® is more affordable per month and takes less time to apply than extensions, and you don’t need to go to the salon, but are the results just as good?

The Results ~

To be honest, comparing the results is a bit tricky, because this expectation varies depending on what you want. Extensions are nice because of their instant results; you walk in with dull lashes, and come out with fantastic ones on the same day. Revitalash® does, in fact, give great results, but it can take awhile for these results to show, so it requires a little patience. But after about two months, you can say hello to natural, dramatic lashes! Your lashes will be longer, thicker and appear darker than before. The side effects are minimal, with only 4% of initial test subjects reporting any side effects at all, which is far less than most people report from lash extensions, as the glue they use can irritate eyes.

Another thing to consider is that extensions can limit a lot of daily activities. Itching or rubbing your eyes at all is discouraged, as it can lead to infections. You also can’t get them too wet, which complicates showering, and limits swimming during the upcoming summer months. Putting on too much make-up or make-up remover can cause problems as well, making any morning routine an additional chore. With Revitash®, you just apply and resume your routine. Also, extensions require a solid base of lashes to build on, so if your lashes aren’t quite thick or supportive enough, it can be recommended that you consider Revitalash® anyway.

So basically it boils down to this; if you are looking for a permanent and effective treatment to fix your dull lashes, then Revitalash® is right for you. It requires less time and effort, and is more cost effective. If you are only looking for a temporary improvement, like for a special event or party, then falsies or extensions may be the better option, but if you’re tired of lackluster eyelashes and are looking for a permanent solution, come to Caddell’s and ask about Revitalash® today!

Are Microneedling Treatments for You?

  • July 16, 2020

If you have wrinkles and scars that you’d like to eliminate then one of the treatments you’ve probably heard of, or even Googled, is Microneedling.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure done with a dermaroller that uses small needles to prick the skin. This creates new collagen and skin tissue that is smoother, firmer and more toned. The dermaroller is applied to your skin multiple times during the treatment, creating tiny wounds to your skin. These wounds trigger collagen to the surface of your skin to repair the skin. The result is smoother, plumper and more glowing skin. Multiple treatments are recommended for best results. Treatments are usually short, 20 minutes or so, with very little downtime. Most people have minimal redness on their skin for an hour or so and can return to normal activities the next day.

Microneedling Pic

When Can You Have Microneedling Treatments?

A plus for Microneedling is that it can be done any time of the year – whether you’re tan or not. Normally treatments are done on the face but can also be done on the hands, neck and the décolleté. Any time of year is a great time to have a Microneedling appointment!

Recently, the FDA approved the SkinPen® Microneedling device by Bellus Medical. The SkinPen® is clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars, stretch mark reduction, burn scar reduction, and is an effective skin and anti-aging treatment. Caddell’s Laser Clinic is one of the clinics in the Bellevue/Seattle area that use the SkinPen® exclusively. The experts at Caddell’s know how to apply the SkinPen® and to give you fantastic results!

At-Home Microneedling Treatments

If you’re aware that you can purchase dermarollers and do Microneedling at home, then undoubtedly you’ve seen that rollers are readily available at retail and online stores for very affordable prices. Why not just do this treatment at home? That’s a possibility, however, there are specific risks when this treatment is done at home.

  • There is a real danger of infection when treatments are done at home. Using at-home devices pose a risk of infection if it is not properly sterile. The resulting infection can require visits to the doctor and may result in scarring.
  • It can be difficult to use the dermaroller correctly, resulting in the treatments actually enlarging pores instead of reducing them when the roller is dragged over the skin. If the needles go in and out of your skin at an angle it can actually cause the wounds to be elongated, which can possibly enlarge the pores.
  • Buying an inexpensive roller can cause real problems, such as having a needle fall off the roller and getting embedded in your skin! OUCH!
  • The at-home rollers don’t penetrate the skin as deep as the professional rollers. This is what makes them perfect for the in-between treatments.

Experts agree that at-home treatments can be beneficial when done between professional Microneedling treatments. You can purchase an at-home dermaroller at Caddell’s for a reasonable price and feel confident that you are getting the best at-home roller possible.

SkinPen, FDA Approved

Recently, the FDA approved the SkinPen® Microneedling device by Bellus Medical and is clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars, stretch mark reduction, burn scar reduction, and is an effective skin and anti aging treatment.

What You Need to Know Before Starting Laser Tattoo Removal

  • February 11, 2019

If you’ve recently joined the "Ink Regret” Club or are a Charter Member and if you’re still debating whether to have the ink removed here are some hints that will help when you’re finally convinced to get your tatts lasered off.

1. Forget the discount places.

Discount places advertise great prices and sell you a group of appointments for a "cheaper” price. There are several reasons not to use cheaper clinics or discount promotions for tattoo removal.

  • It’s a medical procedure. There’s a chance you could burn and scar. Using outdated equipment increases the chance of that. Go to a clinic with experienced estheticians and the best equipment (like Caddell’s!) who can provide you with the best laser tattoo removal.
  • The cheaper clinics may not use the most effective setting and you could end up having more treatments than if you had gone to professionals who use correct settings for fewer treatments. And you want the tat off sooner, right?
Lion Before and After

2. It will take several treatments.

That tattoo that took an hour to get will take several appointments to remove. They don’t just disappear; laser tattoo removal isn’t an eraser that can magically erase your tattoo. The laser used at your tattoo removal appointment focuses on the ink and breaks down the tattoo ink particles and then they are absorbed by your immune system. It takes about six to eight weeks for the particles to get absorbed so at your next appointment, the laser will pinpoint and breakdown new particles.

3. The cost of laser tattoo removal.

Even with the growing popularity of tattoo removal and the number of clinics offering the treatment, it isn’t an inexpensive treatment. Based on several different factors such as the age of the tattoo, the size, the ink colors, darkness and type, the treatment can cost hundreds of dollars per session. The average cost per session, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) is $463. But see #1 for why it’s worth it.

4. New equipment works better.

Lasers have improved a lot. Gone are the days when the only ink we could completely remove was black. Now greens and yellows can be removed just as easily. The color that can’t be removed is white because there’s nothing for the laser to pinpoint with white ink, the laser can’t see it. Before you have a tattoo put on with white ink decide if it’s something you really want because you’ll have to live with it forever – no do-overs with white ink. And using white ink to cover a tattoo instead of getting it removed won’t work either due to changing skin tones throughout your life and during the seasons.

5. It hurts during treatment. And after.

You’ve already got the tattoo, so you know it was a bit uncomfortable and getting it removed shouldn’t be a big deal. Tattoo Removal is uncomfortable both during and after treatment. That’s right. The lasered area doesn’t stop hurting when the treatment’s over. After the treatment, the area may be red, swollen, blistered and bruised. For a couple of days, you will need to apply Aquaphor and bandages. Loose clothing on the area may help too. The good news is that each treatment requires less aftercare as there is less ink reacting to the laser.

Additional Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Additional Benefits of Laser Hair Removal You May Not Have Considered

Laser Hair Removal is more than having a smooth, hairless body all the time. And it’s more than saving yourself a lot of time. There are other factors to consider when deciding to have Laser Hair Removal. Let's explore a few of these benefits.

No. More. Pain!

Less face it. Waxing hurts. REALLY HURTS. And it can cause bleeding and scabs. Then there’s nothing to do but wait until the next treatment and more pain. Or there’s the flinch-worthy threading and plucking treatments, if you prefer. If, however, you’re into LESS pain then you need to try Laser Hair Removal. Laser treatments are mildly uncomfortable, like a rubber band striking your skin. And if you need even less pain, topical anesthetics are also available before your laser treatment to minimize any discomfort.

No More Nicks, Cuts, Scrapes or Scabs.

It never fails. You’re in a hurry and you forgot to shave. Out comes the razor for a quick lather and shave. And you end up with nicks and cuts, how much toilet paper will you need to stop the bleeding? Laser Hair Removal will permanently eliminate those ugly shaving scabs on your legs.

The End of Ingrown Hairs.

The primary reason behind ingrown hairs is shaving – those painful, itchy, red bumps that curl back into your skin instead of out really are a pain. And they can get infected! Laser Hair Removal isn’t just about having smooth, hairless legs – it saves you the pain of ingrown hairs as well.

Steve Carrell

Save Money. Yes Really.

Comparing Waxing and Laser Hair Removal

A Salon Full Leg Wax will cost you between $75 - $100 each treatment. Waxing treatments should be done monthly and will need to be done for several years before enough hair follicles are gone or thinned out to not require waxing treatments. If you wax your legs monthly for 20 years and pay $75 for each treatment, that’s an investment of $18,000 in waxing that you’ll spend and that doesn’t include the lotions and ingrown hair products that you’ll need to purchase.

Comparing Shaving to Laser Hair Removal

When it comes to shaving costs per year, disposable razors tend to cost the most, with an average price of over $100 per year. Following disposable razors are cartridge razors, which can cost anywhere from just under $40 to around $100. So even if you’re buying cheap disposable razors for shaving you also have to add in the shaving cream/gel, a soothing lotion and other elements for ingrown hairs. Averaging out the cost of these products can cost you approximately $20/month which comes out to roughly $240 a year. FOR LIFE. If you estimate that you will shave for 50 years you will spend at least $12,000 on shaving products.

Laser Hair Removal Costs

Laser Hair Removal offers a safe, affordable and most importantly a permanent (reduction) solution to that baby bottom smoothness you’ve been wanting.

Laser Hair Removal cost come in around $3,000 - $5,000 (Don’t be fooled by the Daily Deal sites that offer cheap Laser Hair Removal prices.) When comparing prices of waxing or shaving vs laser hair removal, laser hair removal comes in much cheaper than shaving. And the time savings are even greater when you consider that Laser Hair Removal will require between 8 – 12 treatments before the hair is thin and fine enough to ignore. Your hair will be practically invisible, you may not even notice it unless you use a magnifying glass!

Best of all, Laser Hair Removal gives you a clean, confident feeling no matter what time of day it is. So, if it’s sexy smooth kissable skin you’re after and you want a permanent solution and you’re ready to get started, call 425-998-0181 or request a free consultation online to get started today.

Smooth as a Babys Bum

Before you get started, realize that Laser Tattoo Removal isn’t a walk in the park and it’s definitely not safe to get it done anywhere it’s offered. Nor is it a quick, inexpensive and pain-fee treatment. It will require dedication and patience but if you stick with it the results will be worth it! An Ounce of Prevention Vs A Pound of Cure

  • May 10, 2018

Would you take an ounce of prevention over a pound of cure?

If there was something you could do to prevent a common form of cancer, would you do it?

It is estimated that there will be 178,560 new cases of melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in the US this year and that 9,730 will die because of this disease. Experts have determined that 86% of melanomas can be attributed to exposure to the sun’s UV rays and that a person’s risk for melanoma doubles with more than five sunburns during their lifetime.

This means that certain forms of skin cancer, such as Basal Cell Carcinoma, are generally preventable, if you take the proper precautions such as wearing sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses or simply seeking shade.

Common Types of Skin Cancer

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) – Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer. These are tumors that develop in the deepest layer of the skin, the outermost layer of skin. These tumors rarely spread but can be destructive and disfiguring where they occur. BCC’s often look like open sores, red patches, pink growths or shiny bumps or scars.

Melanoma – This cancer comes from damaged or defective melanocytes, which are skin cells that product the protective skin darkening pigment melanin. UV exposure damages melanocytes which causes sunburns and sun tans and can lead to melanoma.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) – The second most common kind of skin cancer, these tumors can metastasize when left untreated and get big. There are a number of treatments for small SCCs, including freezing, scraping or excisional surgery. Another type of SCC removal is Mohs Surgery.

Sunscreen2 300

Your Skin Regimen

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun causes DNA damage that can lead to skin cancer, so if adding sunblock to your morning regimen feels unnecessary, then consider this; the Skin Cancer Foundation claims more than 90% of visible skin changes associated with aging are caused by the sun’s UV rays. AKA – WRINKLES!

The safest, and best look for you this summer should be a baseball cap, sunglasses, and most importantly, a broad-based spectrum sunscreen with SPF 20 – 50.

At Caddell’s Laser Clinic, we offer the following Sunscreens for our clients:

  • EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 for $35
  • EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 is $30
  • Epionce Active Shield Lotion SPF 30+ is $26
  • Epionce Ultra Shield Lotion SPF 50 is $26
  • Suntegrity Holistic, Mineral Care is $47

Healthy Lifestyle

Since skin cancer is mainly a lifestyle disease it can be prevented with a few basic behavior changes. Adopting a sun protection strategy can radically reduce your risk. You are never too young, or too old to use skin protection because sun damage is cumulative. Without skin protection, you’re leaving your skin unprotected and exposed to harmful UV rays from the sun. If you’re young – you’re not invincible and if you’re older and a senior citizen – it’s not too late.

If you’re a skin cancer warrior I encourage you to share your story with others and encourage them to wear sunscreen and be protective of their skin too.

First Microneedling Pen Approved by the FDA

  • March 16, 2018

The SkinPen® Has Been Approved by the FDA for MicroNeedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation procedure that helps the signs of aging, improves appearance of scars, and rejuvenates aging skin.

In a Press Release released by Bellus Medical, the makers of SkinPen®, it was announced the FDA has cleared the SkinPen® Precision Microneedling Device as the ONLY Safe and Legally Marketed Microneedling System in the U.S.

This sets a new standard as the only recognized Class II Microneedling device available. Caddell’s Laser Clinic has been performing Microneedling using the SkinPen® for several years with fantastic results.

Consumers are experiencing highly effective and meaningful benefits offered by the SkinPen®, including:

  • Little to no downtime
  • Effective for all skin types, light to dark
  • Comfortable experience
  • Short procedure time
  • Ideal any time of the year
  • Real results from a safe, natural and minimally invasive procedure
  • Clinically-proven, safe and effective

What is Microneedling? And What Are The Benefits?

During a SkinPen® Microneedling treatment, a device with tiny acupuncture needles causes controlled micro-injuries that cause the skin to trigger your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and start to create new tissue. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour. There is usually some slight redness/pinkness, like a mild sunburn, for two to four days although some people see their skin return to normal in less than 24 hours.

After the treatment, and as the wound heals, a temporary type of collagen re-builds the area along with a new network of blood vessels developing in the treated area. Microneedling can be used on many body parts. The SkinPen® needle depth adjusts from .25 mm to 2 mm allowing for tailored treatments. And because there’s no damage to the epidermis it doesn’t trigger inflammation, meaning infections and scarring are unlikely. After treatment, it is important to use a high-quality skin care regimen which will also assist in recovery.

The third part of the Microneedling healing process is when the wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger collagen which can contract to create a tightening effect on the skin. During this time, the patient will see an improvement in the appearance of acne scars and the rejuvenation of aging skin. One study of 60 patients with acne scarring, report they saw a 31% improvement in skin texture after three Microneedling treatments with the SkinPen®.

What’s Different About the SkinPen?

The SkinPen® Precision is the only Class II, FDA cleared Microneedling Device. It includes sterile cartridges that deliver exact depth and have straight needles that support the skin’s natural healing process, unlike other devices that may damage the skin. Bellus Medical, the makers of the SkinPen®, raises the bar with superior technology that delivers exceptional reliability, safety and performance.

If you want noticeably healthier skin, using a safe and effective treatment then you owe it to yourself to try Microneedling with the SkinPen®. Call Caddell’s today to book your Microneedling appointment.

Myths About Laser Hair Removal & The Facts

  • February 20, 2018

Myths About Laser Hair Removal & The Facts

There are all kinds of myths and misconceptions on the Internet and it’s hard to wade through everything and find out what’s real and what’s fake. There’s even more fake news about Health Products and Treatments than politics, and that’s saying a LOT!

Here are some myths. . . and the facts, just the facts.

Laser Hair Removal is Expensive

Yes, one Laser Hair Removal treatment is more expensive than when you shave one time. Compare the price of a bulk set of razors or waxing kits versus several laser hair removal treatments and laser treatments cost more. But if you think about this – you’ll realize that over time the costs flip. No more buying razors or wax after you’ve completed your Laser Hair Removal Treatments. Over time, Laser Hair Removal becomes the cheaper treatment by far.

On the rocks

Laser Hair Removal Takes So Much Time

Yeah . . . we know, you have to drive to the clinic, have your treatment and then drive home again. And that takes time. However, since most people see significant hair reduction in four – six sessions and then they don’t have to worry about hair removal at all after that, that time comparison really flips quickly, just like the price argument. Just think of all the time you’ll save in the shower doing the shower boogie trying to shave all your bits.

Laser Hair Removal Hurts

If you think about it – it should hurt, right? Having a laser, a LASER! directed onto your skin. But, really, it’s not so bad. You’ll know the laser is working when you feel something like a rubber band snapping against your skin. The Candela GMaxPro Laser is used at Caddell’s, which has two wavelengths, the Alexandrite 755nm for fair to medium skin and the Nd:Yag 1064 nm for olive to very dark pigmented skin.

It’s Just for Women

We’re seeing more and more men come in to our clinic every year for Men's Laser Hair Removal, so while this might have been the case at one time, it’s no longer true. Men are having Laser Hair Removal for quite some time.

Caddell’s Laser Clinic removes unwanted hair on men’s back, arms, chest and yes, even down "there”. Another popular treatment is Laser Beard Sculpting. No more 5 o’clock shadows ruining good dress shirts. And being able to keep that three-day growth look is much easier when you’ve had Laser Beard Sculpting.

Your Hair Grows Back

Kinda, sorta. Hair follicles are active during different stages. And the only time a laser can destroy a hair follicle is when it’s actively growing. You’ll need several treatments, evenly spaced in order to target all your hair. Each Laser Hair Removal treatment will destroy actively growing follicles, leaving the hair finer and thinner.

After all your treatments are complete, you may notice a few strays coming back occasionally. And during hormonal changes such as pregnancy you may experience regrowth. These are easily removed with follow up treatments.

It Only Works On Certain Types of Skin

You may remember reading that Laser Hair Removal only works on light skin tones and dark hair. That used to be the case but as treatments advanced, new lasers have been developed to treat a wider range of hair and skin types. The experts at Caddell’s use the Fitzgerald skin chart to determine the correct wavelengths for your skin that will be the most effective.

As long as the clinic you go to has the right type of lasers, which Caddell’s Laser Clinic does, Laser Hair removal can now be used to treat all sorts of skin types.

Caddell’s Laser Clinic has invested in a range of medical grade lasers to treat darker skin types. If you’ve been unable to get Laser Hair Removal in the past because you weren’t eligible, arrange for a free consultation today to re-evaluate your options! Or call us at 425-998-0181.

Is Brazilian Hair Removal For You?

  • January 15, 2018

How to Feel Fresh and Clean Every Day

There’s nothing quite like the clean feeling you get when you step out of the shower. Feeling clean and fresh and smooth where you want to feel smooth.

If you could feel that way everyday – even days when you can only take a quick shower because you’re out of time, would you? Would it be worth the investment to have a smooth, hair free pubic area? Are you looking for smooth skin, not only in a swim suit, but nude as well? Would you rather appear like you’ve never had hair there? Or are you interested in some hair removal in your pubic area, but not be totally hair free?

Forget shaving or waxing! Think Laser! The Brazilian Laser Hair Removal Treatment is one of the more popular Laser Hair Removal treatments done at Caddell’s and now is the time to start thinking about being Hair Free this summer!

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

There are plenty of reasons to have a hairless pubic area.

  • Imagine being able to throw on a bikini at a moment’s notice. It usually seems that no matter how often we wax or when the last shave was, when it’s time to put on that bikini, there’s fuzz. And when you shave there’s the possibility of razor burn, ingrown hairs or stubble. And no worry about nicking yourself in the most sensitive of areas. Everything might look great at home, but that bright sunlight is going to reveal something. • Many bikini bottoms and panties are getting narrower, showing more of the pubic region than ever before. Another benefit of being bare removes the worry of wearing the latest and most fashionable underwear with confidence. You don’t need to plan your life around your hair removal needs.
  • There’s nothing quite like the experience of smooth, flawless skin. As all women know, the bikini zone is the most troubling hair removal area, most hair removal options cause more problems than solutions. Laser Hair Removal in the pubic area creates smooth and flawless skin with less irritation than other methods. To prevent stubble from growing back and irritations from other treatments, if you are looking for smooth skin, and saving hundreds of dollars a year on shaving or waxing then Brazilian Laser Hair Removal is the ideal treatment because compared to a lifetime of waxing, laser hair removal is a cost effective, time saving, safe and fairly painless way to keep your body looking the way you want it to look.
  • Laser Treatments are fairly quick. The normal Brazilian laser session can take as little as 25 – 30 minutes.

Who Should Get Laser Hair Removal?

There may have been stigmas in the past with someone removing all their pubic hair, but those thought processes are gone. Are You a Good Candidate for Brazilian Laser Hair Removal?

During a Laser Hair Removal Treatment, the laser is absorbed by the hair, it travels into the hair follicle, destroying it. The laser destroys the hair root, so it won’t grow from that follicle in the future. The effectiveness of Laser Hair Removal depends on the color and thickness of your hair and your skin tone, which will also determine how many treatments you’ll need and how long each treatment will take. Because everyone is different, it’s important to consult a Laser Hair Removal specialist to discuss your personal needs unique factors.
