Laser Hair Removal at Caddell's Laser Clinic
Does it Matter Who Fires the Laser on Your Skin? YES! The Master Estheticians at Caddell's Have the Experience and Knowledge to Safely Remove Your Unwanted Hair.
Laser hair removal is a safe, effective treatment for hair removal. Laser hair removal destroys the hair by utilizing a hot beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed by the hair.
During laser hair removal treatments, the laser energy is then transformed into heat which destroys stem cells lining the follicle wall. Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly cosmetic treatments done in the U.S.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal:
Speed - Some areas, such as the upper lip take a few minutes to treat. Other small areas, such as the underarm or bikini can be treated in as little as 15 minutes, while other areas, such as the legs or back can take up to an hour.
Time Savings - Not having to wax or shave once treatments have begun can be a real time saver.
Accuracy - The laser focuses on your hair, leaving the surrounding skin untouched.
Cost - Laser Treatments for Hair Removal costs less than years and years of waxing or shaving.
Caddell's Laser Clinic uses the Candela GMaxPro Lasers which has two wavelengths, the Alexandrite 755nm for Fair to light olive skin and the Nd:Yag 1064nm for Olive to Very Dark pigmented skin. These lasers allow Caddell's to be able to successfully treat all skin types. During the laser hair removal procedure, the specialists at Caddell's determine your skin type using the Fitzpatrick skin chart, to determine which wavelength will be most effective for your treatment.

FAQ
The number of treatments depends upon your skin color, hair color, and the coarseness of your hair. Everyone requires at least seven - 12 treatments as the process is only effective on hair during the early, active growing cycle. Repeat sessions will be necessary to treat these follicles when they re-enter the early growth phase. The hair follicle is lined with stem cells which creates the hair. The stem cells need to be destroyed by the laser heat in order to stop hair growth.
You should discuss your desired results and the improvements you expect to achieve with your practitioner. Together you can decide if your expectations will be met and if this laser treatment is the best option.
One of the real advantages to laser therapy is speed. Each laser pulse treats about a half-inch area per second. The amount of time needed depends on the size of area treated. Your treatment may include one area or you can combine multiple areas during the same treatment and depending on the area(s) treated, the treatment can take as little as 10 minutes up to two hours. For example, a laser treatment for facial hair removal can take about 20 minutes, upper lip laser hair removal takes less than 15 minutes, underarm laser hair removal can be treated in about 10 minutes; bikini and underarms together take 15 minutes. Laser hair removal on the back can take from 30 minutes up to an hour. These are average treatment times and will vary due to the amount of hair needing to be removed.
Most people say that the laser pulse feels like a small rubber band snapping against your skin. The stinging sensation is only momentary and is certainly less uncomfortable than waxing or tweezing. Our lasers are equipped with a special cooling device to minimize discomfort and the degree of discomfort varies with each person, depending on your pain threshold.
The FDA has labeled Laser Hair Removal as Permanent Hair Reduction. Laser systems have clearly documented that they can achieve permanent hair reduction. The results of Laser Hair removal are cumulative, i.e. more treatments lead to greater degrees of permanent hair reduction. For any given patient results cannot be precisely predicted. Some people do not respond to treatment or need many more treatments than others, particularly when hormonal issues are involved. Results can be variable, even with the best lasers. During your consultation, we will work with you to set a realistic expectation of your results.
Immediately following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen (similar to a sunburn). These effects may last up to several hours. If you are tanning, please wait 2 weeks before coming in for your appointment. Avoid the sun after for 24 hours after treatment or until your practitioner allows it and protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 sunscreen. No hot tub, cardio exercise or hot yoga for 24 hours after treatment. You must avoid plucking or waxing hair for two-weeks prior to treatment. Three to seven days after treatment, you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are just being shed as a result of your treatment, and are not re-growing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is okay to shave.
If you are concerned about unwanted hair, you are probably a good candidate for laser hair removal. The laser energy is attracted to the melanin in your hair - the more melanin, the better the results.
Individuals with fair skin and dark, coarse hair are typically the best candidates, however we can treat most skin and hair with color. If you have blonde, red, white or gray hair you may not be a good candidate because those colors don't usually contain enough melanin to respond to treatments. However, some hair that is considered blonde or red actually does contain enough melanin to be treatable. Come in for a Free Consultation to determine which hair removal treatment would be best for you.
If you are taking a sun-sensitive medication (like Accutane), a waiting period is necessary before you begin treatment.
Treatment frequency will vary depending upon the area that is being treated, as well as on how many treatments you have had. Typically, the initial three treatments are spaced four-weeks apart, the next two-to-five-treatments are every six-weeks. Follow up treatments may occur from eight to 12 weeks, depending on how well your hair responds to the treatments.
