Before & After 5 IPL Treatments for Acne

Active adults look for treatments that can repair damaged skin with little or no downtime. IPL Photofacials, using the Lumenis M-22 device are a breakthrough treatment that can help repair and improve various skin conditions, such as Sun Damage, Rosacea, Acne and Broken Capillaries. IPL® is also known as a "photofacial” treatment. It delivers a broadband of light through the skin for rejuvenation and for the treatment of vascular conditions like Broken Capillaries and brown spots caused by sun damage. The IPL® treatment stimulates the production of collagen, which plumps the skin, creating a fresher look.

IPL Photofacial - A Great Treatment for Sun Damaged Skin & Broken Capillaries

If you have sun damaged skin or broken capillaries, then you are an ideal candidate for an IPL laser treatment. IPL light therapy uses short bursts of high-intensity light to penetrate the skin’s surface, damaging the melanin that creates brown spots or the vessels that create broken capillaries. The damage is then repaired by the skin, leaving you with a more even skin tone. Photofacials are a great treatment for the face, neck, décolleté and the hands.

IPL/Photofacials are also successful treating a condition known as Poikiloderma. Caused by sun damage, Poikiloderma appears as a stripe or mild sunburn on your neck or décolleté that just never goes away. It can be brown, red, or both.

Photofacial Treatments Work Wonders on Acne!

It's true, IPL acne treatments work wonders on any type of existing acne. Caddell's uses the Lumenis M22 broad spectrum light source that penetrates the layers of the skin and promoting healing of the skin while treating acne. Lumenis M22 laser is specifically designed to treat active acne by releasing blue light to target acne.

Yellow, green, and red light is used in a series of short pulses for other treatments.  The yellow and green light destroys the P. bacteria that live in the skin and cause inflammation, while the red light directly targets the overactive sebaceous glands.

This targeted heating deep in the skin causes shrinkage of the inflamed sebaceous glands and helps to prevent over-production of excess sebum. The light also stimulates collagen production to help reduce the appearance of acne scarring.

It takes a series of treatments to see the best results – usually three to four treatments spaced approximately 3 - 4 weeks apart.

Do You Have Rosacea? IPL/Photofacial Treatments Can Help Relieve Symptoms.

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory condition that affects over 16 million Americans. It cannot be cured, however, IPL/Photofacial treatments help relieve symptoms and improve skin appearance. IPL Treatments are an effective way to remove the visible blood vessels and reduce the redness from Rosacea flare-ups. In addition, IPL uses controlled light in specific wavelengths to alleviate the inflammation, pimples, and uneven skin tones.

While we can not cure Rosacea, we can control it. Most people see a difference after just one treatment and report that they are no longer as red when exercising. Each client is different and we go over many treatment options during consultations. Clients typically need 3-4 treatments, while some can go 3 months to a year before they have to come back. One to two IPL treatments a year may be required to treat Rosacea. Since each client is  unique, their treatment will be as well.

What Do Photofacial Treatments Feel Like?

Treatments have been described as warm heat with a tiny pin prick in the center and most patients report that the treatment is very tolerable, less painful than waxing. You will appear to have a mild sunburn for 1 - 2 hours after treatment and post treatment care consists of the use of moisturizer and staying out of the sun for the first 48 hours.

If you have age spots, uneven skin tone, sun damage, fine wrinkles, spider veins, and even Rosacea, then the IPL® photofacial treatment might be the first treatment you try. With no downtime you can return to your active lifestyle in no time at all.
