Treat Broken Capillaries at Caddell's Laser Clinic

Control Your Broken Capillaries at Caddell's Laser Clinic

Spider veins or telangiectasia, also known as broken capillaries, can be bothersome and affect your self-confidence, but there are several treatments for broken capillaries that have paved the way to help you achieve a complexion free of broken capillaries.

Understanding Broken Capillaries on Your Face

Broken capillaries are tiny, dilated blood vessels that appear near the surface of the skin, usually as fine, reddish lines. They can occur on various parts of your body, on the face they can be found around the nose, cheeks, and chins. When treating broken capillaries on your face there are two treatments the master estheticians will consider: Electrocoagulation or Thermo-Lo.  At Caddell's you will receive the finest treatment and achieve effective results.

Fair-skinned people are more likely to get spider veins or telangiectasia than people with olive or dark complexions. Dehydrated skin as well as very sensitive skin tends to be thinner and have fewer protective layers of tissue, making this type of skin more susceptible to broken capillaries.

Factors like aging, sun exposure, genetics, and skin conditions can contribute to their formation.

Understanding Broken Capillaries on Your Body

Broken capillaries can occur on your legs when they are under too much pressure due to having high weight. A high weight can cause capillaries to become overdilated in addition to other critical health risks. The only type of broken veins that are treated at Caddell's are broken capillaries. Caddell's does not treat varicose veins or large spider veins. Laser treatments are a popular choice for addressing broken capillaries. Having the Caddell's specialist target your damaged blood vessels with focused light energy, which causes them to coagulate and eventually fade away. This non-invasive procedure typically requires minimal downtime and can produce significant improvements in the appearance of spider veins. At Caddell's you will receive the finest treatment and achieve effective results.

Debbie Caddell has been treating veins since 2002 and is an expert in lasers and uses them to accomplish the removal of broken capillaries in as few treatments as possible.

Erin Bosch

Went in and saw Caddell's today to get a broken capillary treated. She was super sweet and informative and the treatment was very quick, maybe lasted 20 seconds (small treatment area) and was relatively painless after the first few taps. Price was reasonable as well and I see instant results which is promising. Definitely recommend and am excited to continue treatments.

FAQ for Broken Capillaries/Spider Veins

What are Spider Veins?

Spider Veins, or telangiectasias, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs, although they can be found anywhere on the body. They are formed by the dilation of a small group of blood vessels located close to the surface of the skin.  They usually pose no health hazard but may produce a dull aching in the legs after prolonged standing.

Can Spider Veins be Prevented?

Most times, spider veins cannot be prevented. Wearing support hose may minimize unwanted blood vessels from developing. Keeping one's weight at a normal level and exercising regularly may be helpful, as well as eating a high-fiber diet and wearing low-heeled shoes. Sun protection is important to limit the number of unwanted vessels on the face.

How Does Laser Vein Therapy Work?

The laser used delivers pulses of light waves which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the blood vessel which is then reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow is then directed to veins deeper below your skins surface. The laser affects a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely and effectively.

Who is a Suitable Candidate?

Patients of all skin tones can be treated because of the unique design and long wavelength of our laser system. However, there are some factors that come into consideration: Are you pregnant? Are you taking oral contraceptives? Have you had previous vascular surgery? Do you have Diabetes? Do you have a history of blood clots? These questions and more may be addressed at your initial consultation and we will advise you if Laser Vein Therapy for your broken capillaries is your best option.

What Types of Veins Can be Treated?

Caddell's lasers can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins can be treated quickly without bruising or complications. Spider veins and small blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins that rise off the surface of the skin can not be treated with our laser therapy. During your consultation, a careful evaluation will be performed to determine which blood vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

Will I Need Multiple Treatments?

The number of treatments required varies with the size and depth of each vein. For the maximum long-term resolution, multiple treatments may be necessary, with the average person needing 3 to 4 treatments. Most people notice significant improvement after one to three treatments. Many leg veins need multiple treatments, often over a few months before the effect is complete. Even small vessels may require some time to resolve. Sometimes a bit of "matting" or "staining" surrounds the treated vessel. Some people may need further treatment, especially if new veins appear. Treatments can be repeated at 6 - 8 week intervals to allow for complete healing. If you have a tendency to develop spider veins you may need to have further treatment at a later date.

Do Treatments Take a Long Time?

Depending on the size of the area to be treated the treatment usually takes about 30-60 minutes per session as the laser can treat large areas.

Does the Laser Treatment Hurt?

Most people say the laser pulse feels like a small rubber band snapping against your skin. Typically our customers do not require medication or an anesthetic; however some opt to use a topical anesthetic. In addition, our lasers are equipped with a special cooling device to minimize discomfort.

Is There a Long Downtime?

Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise and cardio for two-weeks. Avoid hot tubs for at least 24-hours post treatment, avoid direct sun exposure after treatment and if you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 Sun Block (not sunscreen). Wear support hose for two-weeks for best results.

When Will I See Results?

Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins show significant improvement within four to eight weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months.

Are Treatments Permanent?

Laser vein elimination permanently removes the veins targeted at the time of treatment. However, there is no guarantee that you will not develop new spider or varicose veins in the future. This is especially true if there is a family history of spider or varicose veins, or if you become pregnant or take oral contraceptives. Laser vein elimination, through repeated treatment, causes the vein to fade from view. There are no guarantees, though, that the vein will ever disappear completely from sight and in some rare instances the treatment has no discernible effect at all. However, most people have a very significant reduction in the appearance of their veins.

What Are Some of the Possible Side Effects?

Some people experience mild pigmentation changes after treatment, but these are temporary. Other patients have slight swelling, bruising, or redness in treated areas, but again, this is temporary.

Are All Laser Machines Appropriate for This Treatment?

No. Each laser machine is FDA approved for different treatments. Some are approved for hair removal, others for facial rejuvenation, and yet others for vein treatment. It is important to check that the machine being used is appropriate for the treatment given. Always seek treatment with a professional that has experience with laser vein therapy.

How Much Does Treatment Cost?

The cost of treatment is $250 for 15 minutes of work. Most treatments last 15 - 30 minutes depending on the size of the veins being treated.
