Chemical peels or skin peeling involves an application of a chemical solution to sun-damaged, unevenly pigmented, and finely wrinkled facial areas. The chemical peels or skin peeling procedure is meant to diminish imperfections by peeling away the skin's top layers. The chemical peels or skin peeling vary according to their specific ingredients and their strength. Depth of skin peeling action may also depend on factors such as how long solutions remain on the skin and whether they are lightly applied, or more heavily or vigorously applied.
In the chemical peels procedure, a special chemical solution is applied on the facial skin to improve the texture of the skin and make it smooth. The chemical peels, is skin peeling process in which the damaged outer layers of the skin are peeled off to reveal the underneath fresh skin and give the face a dynamic glow. The Caddell's specialist will select the best chemical or chemical mix for your skin peels process. A solution is applied using a sponge, cotton pad, cotton swab or brush to the areas to be treated (or the entire face, avoiding the eyes, brows and lips). Generally, the most superficial skin peels are those using alpha hydroxy acids, such as Glycolic. The Jessner Peel is stronger than the Glycolic, it is excellent for oily skin and patients with acne. A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel is stronger, and has a greater depth of peel compared to the Glycolic.
Sun block is strongly recommended with all Chemical Skin Peel treatments. Skin pores may appear larger, and the skin may not tan evenly following a chemical peel. For more information regarding sunscreen read one of our previous Newsletter articles here.
